Watermelon
Sweet, juicy, bright and fun
A summer day is not complete without one
Its juicy flesh is as pink as cotton candy
This succulent fruit taste quite dandy
Sweet as pure sugar touching your tongue
Eating this fruit will make you feel young
Give me a watermelon alongside the bay
And I will be happy throughout the day
So Much Depends Upon…
So much depends upon my hand painted coffee mug
The swirly sea foam green mug comes to use in all seasons
In the spring it holds savory sweet tea
In the summer it holds ice-cold lemonade
In the fall it holds warm, crisp apple cider, and
In the winter it holds hot chocolate with
Floating clouds of marshmallows
I Poetry
I find I Poetry as being something very important to incorporate into the classroom. I Poetry is written in first person and you have to follow a set of criteria. It allows children to use their imagination and have fun with writing poetry. It deepens students understanding of a specific setting, character or plot. I Poetry has children think about the deeper meanings of certain things. It gives children a specific imagery and descriptive language to use. When I am a teacher I want to publish my students I Poetry poems into a classroom poetry book. I think this is very important, because students love to see their final published work. I liked reading over the I Poetry power point because it gave many examples of actual students work. It was great to see what progress they make over time. Overall, I feel that I Poetry is very important and is something that the students will love to do. I cannot wait to use this in my own classroom.

I love the mug! Did you paint it yourself?? Here again I like how you used color in your poem, it makes each season really stand out. Your descriptions of the liquids are great, especially the hot chocolate. It makes me want some right now.

I love your connections to the seasons…you could even use the topic as a Poetry Idea.
I must say, my favorite line is “Floating clouds of marshmallows” because of the visual image it evokes. Well-written.
